WAGS Boutique
When ITV2 decided to stage its reality TV show, WAGS Boutique, it turned to Cybertill for EPoS software to power the till operations of the two clothing shops. The boutiques, 'Better Half' and 'Bows', located a stone's throw from London's Carnaby Street, were managed by two teams of wives and girlfriends of celebrity footballers who battled it out to net the most business. At the end of the process, the winning team selected a charity to receive the profits.
The cybertill solution
Cybertill was selected by Talkback Thames TV, who funded and produced the series, to supply and train the teams on the software that drove all the point-of-sale functions.
Each boutique was equipped with the latest Chip and PIN-compliant, touchscreen tills from J2 Retail Systems and high-speed Epson TM-T88IV thermal receipt printers, all of which were supplied and installed by distributor Box Technologies.
To deliver reliable till performance without the overheads of employing in-house IT staff, Cybertill provided a high-speed, broadband, managed service directly from the shops into its Glasgow Data Centre.
How cybertill helped WAGs Boutique
In addition to managing all the accounting processes generated by the tills, the Cybertill software gave the WAGs an instant snapshot of how their boutiques were performing. This helped them to tailor their stock and merchandising to the items that walked off the rails.
Says Jonathan Furniss, Production Manager at Talkback Thames TV: "Cybertill's software is intuitive and user-friendly which helped enable the smooth running of both boutiques. The company's interest and support in the show is very much appreciated."
Business-driven achievements
When the 13-week challenge came to an end, 'Bows' was declared the winner. The combined profits of the shops - an amazing £452,000 - were donated to Great Ormond Street Hospital and to The Willow Foundation.
Plans for the future with cybertill
Once the challenge was over, one of the 'Better Half' team members, Elle Isaac, decided to open her own boutique in her home town of Brighton. Named 'Romelle', the new boutique will use both Cybertill's software and J2's hardware. Building on her WAGs Boutique experience, Elle felt confident starting a new venture supported by technology with which she was already familiar.
