Royal Exchange Gift Shop Case Study

"cybertill does what our old system did and much more! We had been looking at a couple of other systems, but the deadlines hadn't been met and cybertill was available now". Rachael Dickson, Craft Shop Manager, Royal Exchange Theatre.

The Client – The Royal Exchange Craft Shop

The Royal Exchange Theatre opened its doors in 1976, and has become a nationally established institution, hosting both well-recognized and new acts. The Craft Shop forms part of the Royal Exchange Theatre and opened itself in 1981.

It has equally developed an excellent reputation through selling exciting work by national makers and innovative pieces by new designers alike. Now well established in Manchester, the Craft Shop sells collectable ceramics, glass, wood, metal and textiles as well as contemporary jewellery.

The Problem

"We were running a manual system as our previous system was old & dated, and the till had finally broken down and lost its memory twice!"

The Craft Shop relied on a system that was not only far too time-consuming and impractical to use, but also offered very little in terms of customer tracking, profiling and mailing. They were stuck with an aged solution that had no backup to stop the loss of data and did not have the guidance of a customer support team to offer immediate assistance.

The Solution

cybertill's standard product suite was used to provide a solution that overcame the obvious limitations of their manual system:

  • Core database module
  • Purchase order module
  • Stock control and reporting module
  • Point of sale software
  • Training

Where are we now…

"cybertill allows us to keep our mailing list updated and keep track of what our customers are buying which is invaluable for stock management. We have the advantage that we can phone the office if we have any problems or questions and there is also an out of office number which suits us as we are open in the evenings".
