Purves & Purves go ‘digital’ for Christmas ‘07
EPoS & e-commerce technology company, Cybertill Limited, has applauded the launch of a digital catalogue for the Christmas season by its client Purves & Purves. The company is the first of the more than 400 e-commerce businesses that use Cybertill technology to have adopted this approach.
Purves & Purves uses a Cybertill system to run both its online business and its store-based operation at George Street in London’s West End.
Owners Andrew Purves, a former buyer for Habitat and Liberty, and his wife Pauline, bring a very personal approach to their business and pride themselves on sourcing a wide range of contemporary furniture, modern household accessories, lighting and gifts which combines quality and design with value for money. From 1992 – 2006, the business operated from premises on Tottenham Court Road. Soaring rent and rates and the onslaught of cheap products from Eastern manufacturers persuaded the couple to find a better way of marketing their products without compromising their buying principles. The decision was taken to build an online operation and www.purves.co.uk was born. This part of the business concentrates on accessories and smaller furniture items, whilst larger furniture, including bespoke items, can be purchased from the George Street showroom. The web site has been a great success, with sales growth of 97% in this second year. Now, as its latest venture, the couple have created a digital catalogue of autumn and Christmas ranges.
Says Pauline Purves: “Why brave the elements of the winter weather when you can buy such wonderful gifts from the comfort of your own home, whilst reducing your carbon footprint at the same time?”
Thanks to latest technology, the catalogue enables armchair shoppers to browse the stock at their leisure, literally turning the pages one by one, from their PC even when they are not connected to the internet. |
