WITH ITS NEW ‘PRIMO’ EPOS SYSTEM
New software removes obstacles of technical complexity and affordability.

St. Helen’s-based retail technology company, Cybertill Limited, has announced the launch of cybertill primo, a new version of its EPoS software that is specifically aimed at the computing needs of thousands of single-store retailers in the UK’s flourishing SME sector.
Says Ian Tomlinson, Managing Director at Cybertill: “Building a business from just a single store location is a real challenge. It’s how most great businesses start but nobody pretends it’s easy. With our software now installed in 3,000 store locations, many of them small, independent retailers, we’ve learnt just how hard it is to run an efficient business without good point-of-sale software.”
As the company explains, small retailers have to keep a constant eye on cash flow at the same time as managing all the product, stock and accounting processes of multi-store retailers. Whereas their larger competitors can afford to invest in the best technology to make their business more efficient and more profitable, businesses in the early stages of development have until now had to make do with largely manual processes.
Made available on an ASP basis with data accessible at the end of a broadband virtual private network connection, cybertill primo relieves smaller retailers of the headache and cost of managing staff and in-house systems without any compromise on functionality.
Continues Tomlinson: “We take care of our clients’ updates, making sure they always have the latest functionality. Then, as and when they grow their business, it’s a seamless process to expand their cybertill system to manage multi-store operations. The fact that cybertill is already used by some of the UK’s largest retail chains such as Threshers means that our clients need have no concerns about system scalability.”
To assist single-store retailers to budget for their software, Cybertill is offering lease options for periods up to 5 years as an alternative to outright purchase.
The first retailer to adopt cyber till primo is Pugs & Kisses, www.pugsandkisses.com, an internet-based business that sells luxury goods to the lucrative pet market.
Set up 3 years ago by an American expatriate, Pugs & Kisses describes itself as ‘London’s hippest pet boutique’. In addition to ‘style-conscious’ products for cats and dogs covering nutrition and health, bedding, toys and eating accessories, the retailer offers pet grooming services from its spa on New Kings Road.
States Pugs & Kisses founder, Candace Maher-Walsh: “I want to focus on building my business knowing that better-established competitors don’t have an advantage over me in terms of computing power. I didn’t think it would be possible to level the playing field, but with cybertill solo, I’ve now got all the functionality I need at point-of-sale.”
