Our Solutions – System Requirements
To run the Cybertill application, you need only a web-enabled computer and a broadband internet connection.
Software as a Service
This method of delivering EPoS and e-commerce systems to traditional and online retailers brings with it many benefits and simplifies system requirements. The main characteristic is that no software is loaded locally. Retailers access their system through a web browser and ADSL.
In the case of cybertill, when an item is scanned at the till, the connection is made over an ADSL line to our Glasgow data centre. The response time is typically 300--400 milliseconds. This real-time data access gives retailers true visibility of their performance for reporting and management purposes, from anywhere in the world. As all tills on the retailers’ estate are linked through one database, information can be input and accessed from any point.
cybertill is not hardware-dependant and works on any machine that can run a web browser. We have customers using cybertill on low-end Pentium PC’s, although receipt printers, cash drawers, and certain elements of the Back-Office cannot be used with Mac’s at present. We are currently evaluating CE platforms, which should give dramatic cost savings.
Although cybertill will work quite happily on a 56K dial-up service, we recommend an ISDN line as the minimum standard. We are also an ADSL reseller, and this level of connectivity is even more beneficial in terms of speed and performance. |
